SHERIFF PRESS RELEASE

FUGITIVE APPREHENSION

On Thursday, April 16, 2026, Caldwell County Sheriff's deputies, along with the U.S. Marshal's Northwest Missouri Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Clinton County Sheriff's Office, arrested 32-year-old Trevor Altman in Polo, MO, on a federal warrant for a felony weapons violation.   Altman was taken into custody without further incident.  

The officers also served an arrest warrant for felony tampering in the 1st degree at Hideaway Lakes in Polo, MO, on 44-year-old Ryan Halberstadt.  Halberstadt fled to avoid arrest but with the help of Clinton County Sheriff's Office's drone and Caldwell County K-9 Axel, Halberstadt was located and taken into custody. 

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the task force for allowing us to assist in their operation and for assisting us in locating Mr. Halberstadt.
